CURRENT FISHING
REPORT FOR:
May 16, 2012
Hello South Texas Giggers and Anglers!
Hello fishing fans and south texas
giggers,
Calm winds and clear waters are upon us, I've recently changed
locations to upper Aransas bay near the Lydia Ann channel,
customers have been gigging their limits of flounder and at
least one 5 to 6 pd fish each nite meaning we're done early,
some of my folks also enjoyed gigging some 6 to 7 pd. drum in
shallow water on sand. It appears to be shaping into a great
spring run.
Redfish are present ,but scattered due to last weeks strong
stroms that caused some 100 mile an hour straight line winds,
they should settle and start biting again soon, sheephead seem
to be running to small for gigging ,but you can always catch
them around pilings at fishing piers or rock jetties, shrimp
live is the best bait for this.
Everyone ,use your head on the water, wear your kill switch
attached to your body someway, I personally use a wrist
attachment like a jet skier uses, if you hit something you
can't see and get thrown out, it will stop the engine and
prevent the boat from running you over., never stop respecting
the water, I've been out there for 33 years, and I'm still as
cautious as the first time. Be safe!
Good
fishing to all,
Capt. Dan the
Flounder Man
